Special exhibitions and displays

Among the planned initiatives, photography and painting exhibitions will be at the center of the celebrations.

The exhibition “Migrazioni - i sardi nel mondo Tràmudas - sos sardos in su mundu” by Antonio Mannu and “L'Italia che partiva. Via mare verso l'America” by Giovanni Cerri, will offer an in-depth look at Italian migrations.

From April 18, the exhibition “Appointment at the Cinema - Cinema on paper and beyond” will display movie posters from the 1950s-1970s, followed by the major exhibition “Hollywood on the Riviera. Chronicle of Movie Stars” with images from the Leoni archive.

Another significant event will be the exhibition of plates created by cartoonist-sailor Davide Besana, documenting three years of solidarity sea voyages.

Events and guided tours

The calendar of events includes numerous special guided tours and meetings with curators and directors of leading Italian museums.

Among the guided tours, particularly anticipated is “The Night of the Andrea Doria”, in commemoration of the ship's sinking, with a special opening of the museum.

From April through July, monthly “The Director Meets” meetings will allow the public to engage in dialogue with leading figures in the Italian museum scene, such as the director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, Christian Greco. Monthly guided tours, curated by the museum's curators, will explore different sections of the Galata, offering insights into topics such as Columbus and the Port of Genoa and the “Memory and Migration” section.

Meetings in Blue and educational activities

The fifth edition of “Meetings in Blue” will feature prominent personalities in the maritime world and will also be televised. Among the guests, Rodi Basso, Grant Dalton, Matteo de Nora and Giovanni Soldini will share their experiences related to the sea.

In parallel, from April through November, the museum will offer educational activities for all ages, including thematic workshops and guided tours to discover Genoa's maritime history and traditions.

Events will culminate on July 31 with a day of free admission and evening festivities at Genoa's dockyard.
